Pasture turns 30: a letter from our founder
17 August 2026
Pasture turns 30 this year. To mark it, founder and CEO Lloyd Soong wrote to the partners, clients, suppliers and old friends who have been part of the company's history.
Lloyd spent more than ten years in big pharma, rising to head its Singapore operations. In 1996 he took over a small buying house in Singapore, renamed it Pasture Pharma, and used his background in immunology and organ transplantation to build a specialised marketing, distribution and wholesale business.
Since then the company has come through the Asian financial crisis, SARS, the 2008 global financial crisis, H1N1 and COVID-19. It started R&D on N95 masks in 2005, a bet Lloyd says took years to pay off. Today Pasture is investing in its own manufacturing and R&D, including proprietary oral disintegrating strips for patients who have difficulty swallowing, needle phobia or inefficient GI absorption.
Pasture listed on the Singapore Exchange in 2023, and Lloyd describes the company as pivoting from distribution to discovery. He closes the letter with a note on how it was written: "AI may be the buzzword of the moment, but I assure you this 30th anniversary note was written from the heart by a 64-year-old man, not a prompt engineer."
